EPW - W. Howard, London, verge fusee, 52mm, silver OF original pair cases bearing London hallmarks for 1784, incuse "W . B" marking with crescent for casemaker William Blake, white enamel dial, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and engraved foliate scrolled balance cock with a bust at its neck, s#10901. Watch comes with a very attractive early chain as well as an ornate key for winding and setting, and a plainer key with larger aperture likely for locking of a watch box. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, chain is detached from barrel and wrapped around fusee, hook is present, overhaul needed...

Mvt: NR, chain is detached from barrel and wrapped around fusee, hook is present, balance will tick with reverse pressure given at fusee, overhaul needed, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, strong gilt tone, scattered fine and micro-fine scratches; dial with some hls and surface scratches; excellent hands; outer case shows light wear, an attractive acquired patina, profuse denting to rear with the deepest of these toward the hinge, good button latch function but with metal loss to button; inner case shows light wear, dent to upper right perimeter of rear, scattered additional lesser dents to rear, some circumferential denting, side to side play to mvt hinge, inner soldered repair evident to pendant junction; bow pivots freely; domed glass bull's-eye crystal with some small scratches; chain is in good overall condition with an attractive dark patina, some surface rust on initial two loops.
